In December 1944, as the enemies of the Third Reich closed in from east, west and south, everyone knew that the outcome of the war was essentially decided. Everyone, that is, except for Hitler, who was marshalling his forces for one last great offensive gamble. This attack would be aimed at the thinly held U.S. lines in the Ardennes and take place in the dead of winter, thus negating Allied airpower.
